Sopranistka Irena Preda prihaja iz Ljubljane. Prejemnica štipendij Mestne Občine Ljubljana, Rotary Cluba Ljubljana ter Ustanove Gallus je študirala na Trinity College of Music v Londonu, kjer je diplomirala z odliko. Le dva dni po diplomi je debutirala v naslovni vlogi opere Carmen Georgesa Bizeta, nedavno pa je prvič nastopila tudi na slovenskem opernem odru v vlogi Nine v novi slovenski operi Ljubezen kapital v SNG Opera in Balet Ljubljana. Z uglednimi solisti in orkestri, kot so violinist Julian Rachlin, kitarist Alen Garagić, dirigent Bostonskih filharmonikov Benjamin Zander, Orkester Slovenske filharmonije, Simfonični orkester RTV Slovenija, Orkester Hrvaškega Narodnega gledališča ter Praškim Filharmoničnim zborom je doslej koncertirala v Avstriji, Belgiji, Bosni in Hercegovini, Franciji, Indiji, Italiji, Izraelu, Makedoniji, Nemčiji, Španiji, na Češkem, Hrvaškem, Kitajskem, Škotskem, Slovaškem, Švedskem in Šrilanki. Nastopila je pred Kraljico Elizabeto II. in bila povabljena, da nastopi s slovito sopranistko Montserrat Caballé na njenem koncertu Puccinijevih arij v Zaragozi ob 150. obletnici skladateljevega rojstva. Leta 2009 je s slovensko himno odprla Podelitev Prešernovih nagrad, letos pa je tam ponovno nastopila v sklopu multimedijskega sestava vsestranskih mladih umetnikov. Ob praznovanju dvajsete obletnice samostojnosti Slovenije je nastopila v Britanskem parlamentu ter Westminstrski katedrali, za seboj pa ima tudi uspešno serijo koncertov španske glasbe z orkestrom Slovenske Filharmonije v Gallusovi dvorani ter Slovenski filharmoniji. Ireno Preda je revija Ona v letu 2011 imenovala med 50 najbolj izjemnih žensk. Soprano Irena Preda comes from Slovenia. She graduated with distinction from Trinity College of Music in London and was the recipient of scholarships by The City of Ljubljana, Rotary Club Ljubljana and the Gallus Foundation. She continued her development under the guidance of prominent operatic names such as Montserrat Caballé, Teresa Berganza, Dunja Vejzović and Sir John Tomlinson as well as studying acting with renowned actors Jeremy Irons, Jonathan Pryce and Imelda Staunton. Only two days after graduating Ms. Preda made her operatic debut as Carmen at Greenwich Theatre in London. She has also played Dido in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Lucia in Julian Grant's A very private beach and most recently Nina in Love Capital at the Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet. She performs with orchestras and soloists around the world and has thus far performed in Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, The Czech Republic, China, Croatia, England, Germany, France, India, Israel, Italy, Macedonia, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sri Lanka and Sweden with renowned artists such as violinist Julian Rachlin, conductor Benjamin Zander (Boston Philharmonic Orchestra), guitarist Alen Garagic, Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, Slovenian National Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Croatian National Theatre Orchestra and the Prague Philharmonic Choir to name but a few. Upon invitation by the British Embassy in Slovenia Ms. Preda performed before Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She regularly performs with Sounds of Slovenia, a project uniting the best of Slovenian musicians promoting Slovenian culture through music all across the globe. It is with this project that she also performed at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. At the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Slovenian independence she performed at the Houses of Parliament and the Westminster Cathedral in London. Ms. Preda was chosen as one of Slovenia's most promising young opera singers to perform in Opera obeta (Promising Opera), the Young Artists Concert by the Slovene National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana and opened the 2009 Prešeren Awards (for highest achievement in culture) with the Slovene national anthem and was invited to perform at this prestigious event again this year. Apart from classical singing she is also a distinguished performer of tango and jazz and has performed at the renowned jazz venues such as The Ronnie Scott's, The 606 and The Spice of Life in London, as well as jazz festivals across England. In 2011 Ms. Preda was named amongst the top 50 Most Amazing Women in Slovenia. Ms. Preda can currently be seen in a play Gremo vsi! / All together now!, alongside some of Slovenia’s most prominent musicians directed by Marko Bulc.
